Carry On Camping

Long story this, so pay attention  Wink

Last weekend I went camping.

With the kids.

I don't like camping very much (ie at all), but everyone tells me that "the kids love it" which seems justification enough in some people's eyes. Personally, I wonder why it is that my children's enjoyment takes precedence over mine, but there you are.

The only thing I do like about camping is my inflatable armchair. With it's beer bottle sized receptacle in one of the arms, it is a small comfort in what is usually a world of pain and discomfort, together with backed up toilets for comic relief.

T'was upon that very armchair, whilst smokin' a fag and drinking a cool beer, browsing V8.0 of Classic Rock Prog mag, that a chap called Barry (for that was his name) walked by and said:-

"Cor Rush. I love Rush. What's that mag ? A PROG MAG ? I love prog I do"

We then spent a merry 1/2 an hour reminiscing over gigs, albums, tour t-shirts and time signatures that we have loved.

This is what I like about Prog - it's unerring ability to bring people together and the feeling of joy and relief when you find out that someone else likes it too. It's like discovering you're not a freak and alone in the Universe.

And that made me smile...
